Birk Manufacturing Announces 1000 SQFT Advanced Testing Lab for Thermal Solutions
Thermal shock and thermal cycling test stations.
The Power Conditioning test stations are equipped with dedicated precision programmable DC power supplies to expand capacity while providing precise voltage and current control.
Thermal imaging during power conditioning monitors heater temperature at different voltage levels.
The Birk Advanced Testing Lab offers advanced testing capabilities to reduce lead time and lower cost.
This investment solves several customer requests and challenges. The Lab brings in advanced testing equipment for space applications and provides a wide range of standardized testing across all industries. Tests that were previously outsourced to testing labs can now be done in-house, improving lead time and reducing customer costs. Additionally, the lab increases capacity for customer R&D work during early design and prototyping phases.
The lab offers the following testing capabilities:
○ AC/DC Power Conditioning (DC up to 300VDC)
○ Thermal Cycling (-68˚C to 180˚C)
○ Thermal Shock (-80˚C to 220˚C)
○ HIPOT testing
○ Insulation Resistance testing
○ DC Resistance testing
○ Complex Impedance testing
○ Reflected Light Microscopy
○ Multi-channel Data Acquisition system
In addition to the lab equipment, Birk has hired a full-time Test Lab Director - an Electrical Engineer with over 40 years of experience. The Director has extensive experience with circuit design, data analysis, failure analysis, and materials science. He will be designing test fixtures and application-specific instrumentation.
